Best Friends Animal Society, named Animal Welfare Non-Profit National Brand of the Year based on the 2012 Harris Poll EquiTrend® study, is a national animal welfare organization building no-kill programs and partnerships that will bring about a day when there are No More HomelessPets®. The society's leading initiatives in animal care and community programs are coordinated from its Kanab, Utah headquarters, the country's largest no-kill sanctuary. This work is made possible by the personal and financial support of a grassroots network of supporters and community partners across the nation.
Best Friends is successfully spreading its mission of bringing about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets across the country. They’ve already experienced great success in their goal of developing no-kill communities: reducing the number of shelter animals killed in Utah alone by 35 percent in only 12 years! They prove that dedicated and caring people can change the world and save thousands of lives.
Best Friends is spreading awareness of Black Pet Syndrome through its Back In Black initiatives. Here is an infographic explaining what Black Pet Syndrome is and ways you can help their efforts.

This is my best friend Axis a German Shepard. He is German born and Slovakian trained. I think he is actually human and just playing a trick on me. He goes everywhere I go and never takes his eyes off of me. My favorite thing about him is how sweet he is. He loves to cuddle and give love.
Maya, my chocolate brown Pomeranian-Mix sweetheart, has been such a blessing in my life! She found me while I was visiting my local shelter about 4 years ago. Maya was labeled a ‘runaway’ puppy, and to my sadness, I saw that 2 other families were already on the waiting list to take her home. With my name as the third person down on her list, I figured my chances of adopting her were slim to one; however, three days later I got a call to come pick her up! Something had fallen through with the other families on the list, so fate decided to bring Maya and I together! She is the most beautiful, furry little friend I could ask for! We love to snuggle together next to the fire during the cold winter months, and we love to race around the backyard in the summer and bark at all the neighbors.
